Does this not look delicious?...Cause it most definitely was!
I found the recipe here, but made a few changes of my own.
So go{really quick}and make this fluffy sweet scrumptious treat, you won't regret it!
- 1 pkg Duncan Hines Chocolate cake mix (I'm telling you, this cake was SO so light and fluffy)
- 2 1/2 cups of Whipping Cream
- 3 Tbsp of Powder Sugar
- 1 Tbsp of Vanilla
- 1 can of Cherry Pie Filling
- Make cake according to box directions in two floured 8"round cake pans. Let cool completely
- Beat the whipping cream until soft peaks form, be patient this takes a while. (But as you can tell in the picture)...My was looking almost perfect so I thought I would go for just a little bit longer and then BAM...it was lumpy. So when it looks done, well...it's DONE!
- Mix powder sugar and vanilla into whipped cream. If you want it a little more sweet you can add more sugar, but because the cake is so sweet the toned down cream makes it a perfect combination.
- Place bottom layer of cake on plate. Spread 2/3 can of cherry pie filling onto bottom layer of cake 1/2inch from the edge.
- Spread half of whipped cream topping over the cherries, top with second layer of cake.
- Repeat the cherry, and whipped cream layer on top and enjoy!
You may want to even out your cake layers so they sit perfectly flat. (Which I did not do, Oops)
Or place your whipped cream on top layer before you place you cherry filling(we think the pie filling made the top a little to slick for the whipped cream to stay put).
Duncan Hines is seriously the BEST! I think this is also called a Black Forest cake!! =D looks yummy! Great job!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Chelsea is right. It really is called Black Forest Cake...I just thought it would be funny to call it chocolate divine....because let's me honest, that's what it was!!!
